Isostatic Presses

Isostatic Presses use a pressure vessel chamber to compact a powder or material placed in a sealed tooling, bag or other container. The Isostatic presses can be a Cold isostatic press (CIP) using an oil-water mixture pressurized fluid up to 100,000 psi (7,000 bar). Hot Isostatic Presses (HIP) use an argon atmosphere or other gas mixtures heated up to 2100º C (3800º F) and pressurized up to 60,000 psi. Warm Isostatic Presses (WIP) use an oil-water mixture that is heated up to 650º C (1200º F) and pressurized up to 100,000 psi.

EPSI has manufactured isostatic presses in hundreds of numerous configured diameters, void lengths and operating pressures. We have supplied CIP, HIP, WIP and systems specialty vessels as long as 14.3 meters (47’) long and vessel diameters as large as 1930 mm (76”).

Cold Isostatic Presses (CIP) - Medium Size and Pilot Production

Medium Size & Pilot Production Cold Isostatic Presses (CIP)

  • Typical pressure vessel inside diameter up to 300 mm (12 inches)
  • Compact free standing on the floor units or modular units when vessel needs to be standing in a pit
  • Top closure handling devices with or without load handling system
  • Customized units with numerous options for controls, automation, fluid filtering, decompression, etc

Warm Isostatic Presses (WIP) - Epsi Inc.

Warm Isostatic Presses (WIP)

  • Similar to Wet Bag CIP processing
  • With further provision to heat the load and pressurizing fluid, normally used for products requiring a chemical reaction during the phase of compaction
  • Temperatures typical between 100°C (212F) and 300°C (572F)

Hot Isostatic Presses (HIP) - Laboratory Units   Laboratory Units (HIP)
  • From hot zone diameter 70mm (2.75 inches) upwards
  • One or two zone furnace design
  • Advanced computerized controls
  • Interchangeable furnaces for various temperatures and atmospheres
  • Flexible computerized programming of cycles, data-logging, etc
